A board meeting is a short, standing meeting in front of an operations board where the team reviews yesterday’s performance against targets, today’s plan and current deviations, and agrees who does what by tomorrow. Typically 10-15 minutes, same time every day.
The board’s content follows a fixed reading order: safety, quality, delivery, productivity — each with green/red status, so deviations jump out. Every red number triggers an action with a name and a deadline; otherwise the board is an information meeting, not a management meeting.
The most frequent causes of death for board meetings: meetings that grow to 30 minutes, boards that become reporting upward instead of management within the team, and red numbers without consequence — which teach everyone that red is acceptable.
